Santam Direct has a career opportunity available for an Operational Data Manager who will be based in Bellville (Cape Town). This role will provide operational reporting and insights to manage the day-to-day operations guide businesses strategic initiatives.

Principle Accountabilities
Innovation and technology
Engage with business to gain a comprehensive understanding of goals, processes, and challenges. Identify and propose measures and Key Performance indicators and prepare the Business Requirements Document, in line with the MI framework, that can be translated into functional and technical specifications by the design and development team to support the achievement of business objectives.
Determine the data required, identify the appropriate data sources and where required integrate multiple data sources in support of the business specifications. Formulate and employ robust data analysis techniques analyse the data to ensure adequacy, and legitimacy of data.

Operational Data analysis and reporting
Perform data preparation which includes data cleaning, standardisation analysis and daily use of data sources. Complete data testing as part of data migration and new system implementation projects to ensure that the integrity of the data is maintained, and all reports are reliable and accurate.
Consolidate and integrate all data to ensure that reporting outputs are rationalised to avoid duplication and ensure that generation of MI that is reconcilable to trusted data sources.
Highlight instances where insufficient and/or inaccurate data is available and does not meet business requirements - propose alternative approaches for consideration.
Use data visualisation tools to generate graphical representations of information gleaned from the date, ensuring that the reports produced are attention grabbing and are generated as per service level agreements with the business to enable timely decision making.
Analyse trends within the data and provide the business with insights to highlight new opportunities as well as potential issues.

Automation
Develop code and reporting processes as well as look-up or reference tables which will facilitate the interpretation of datasets, automate repetitive reporting to reduce human error and to improve the standard and quality of reports produced.

Process and documentation
Responsible for re-evaluating existing and new business processes that may enhance productivity capabilities.
Ensuring understanding and correctness of Service Levels. Ensuring HR policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented correctly by business.

Training and Development
Provide training to staff on all levels of new systems, processes and or products related to MIS Management.
Develop and maintain cross business functionality internal and external. What will make you successful in this role?

**Knowledge and Experience**:
Bachelor’s degree in BComm, Business Science or Computer Science (major in Stats, Finance, Economics and IT (Honours Degree - preferably)
SQL, SAS, Teradata, PowerBi, Qlikview, Tableau
7 years’ experience within a data and analytics environment
Experience in SQL/SAS, Excel, Qlikview/Tableau/PowerBI

**Skills**:Ability to troubleshoot any kind of systems related problems and maintain security of the systems
Solid understanding of Service Level - an awareness of potential causes and impacts on day-to-day activities
Solid Knowledge of Call Centre functions and operations (telephony, workplace scheduling, metrics)
Solid Knowledge of management principles
Knowledge of budgeting and managing transactional costs
People management
Ability to heed results through analytics and implement effectively
Solid understanding of Dialler and Reporting systems such as Avaya, POM, Qlikview & MS Office Suite such as Excel
Understanding of HR principals and procedures
