Fleet Controller

As the Fleet Controller, you will be responsible for maintaining efficient communication with drivers, handling transportation incidents, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the fleet. The role requires a balance of operational oversight, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Fleet Management**:

- Incident Management: Handle transportation incidents including client complaints, loss of products, accidents, and breakdowns.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure trucks are serviced on time and perform routine checks to ensure all vehicles are in optimal condition.
- Fleet Administration: Provide regular updates on fleet availability and operational status, ensuring that vehicles are not out of service for extended periods.
- Fleet Tracking: Track and monitor trucks, including updating Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) as needed.
- Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources such as diesel, washbays, and driver sleep schedules using the required systems
- Truck Turnover Management: Ensure the efficient turnover of trucks, minimizing downtime and ensuring optimal vehicle utilization. Meet monthly truck turnover targets.

**Liaising with Drivers**:

- Driver Communication & Monitoring: Maintain consistent contact with drivers to monitor their loading, off-loading, and transit progress. Notify clients or the sales team about any delays or issues.
- Attendance Management: Track and monitor driver attendance daily, ensuring sufficient driver availability to meet operational requirements.
- Driver Briefings: Conduct regular briefings with drivers, providing them with route assignments, job requirements, and safety protocols.
- Driver Performance: Address any driver behavior or performance issues promptly.
- Driver Documentation: Ensure that all drivers have updated statutory documents, such as passports and medical certificates, and that they are valid at all times.
- Timely Deliveries: Ensure strict adherence to route schedules, minimizing delays and ensuring timely deliveries. Report any loading/unloading delays, including border crossing issues, to the Sales Manager promptly.

**Desired Experience & Qualification**

**Qualifications and experience**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent (bachelor’s degree preferred).
- 5 - 7 years previous experience as a Fleet Controller or in a similar logistics or transport management role.
- Knowledge of driver compliance regulations and maintenance requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and fleet management software.
- Valid driver's license

- Proven experience in fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of drivers.
- Ability to multitask, solve problems quickly, and ensure the smooth flow of operations.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining operational efficiency.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle a high volume of daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Fluent in English and Afrikaans (ability to communicate in an African language is beneficial).
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with drivers.
- Reliable, deadline-driven, and adaptable.
- Willingness to work in a rotating 24-hour schedule, including weekends.

Pay: R8 000,00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Witbank, Mpumalanga 1035: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Fleet Controller: 3 years (required)
