My client, a well established concern within the retail industry has a vacancy at their Head Office in Somerset West for an

accounts payable lead

**Purpose of the role**:
This person will be responsible for leading the accounts payable function and accounts payable team within the company. Ensuring that all functions in relation to accounts payable are carried out in a timeous and accurate manner. Upholding the required standards to achieve the company’s financial and business objectives.

**Experience/knowledge & skills**:

- 3-5 years experience in Accounts Payable department
- Experience of leading a team
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Excellent reconciliation skills and financial applicable technical knowledge
- Strong resistance to pressure and experience of a high-volume environment
- Excellent computer literacy
- Sufficient Excel skills (advance level)
- Pastel Evolution knowledge will be advantageous

**Qualification/s**:

- Grade 12
- B.Comm degree or similar tertiary qualification
- Drivers licence
- Own vehicle

**Key performance areas**:

- Customer Service_
- Ensure payments to suppliers are made on time and according to payment policy
- Liaison with internal and external suppliers in a professional manner
- Follow up on all accounts payable enquiries received
- Administration:_
- Daily - Preparation and checking of vendor reconciliations
- Follow-up on all outstanding payments
- Follow-up on creditor related issues and the tracking thereof
- Weekly/Monthly - Reviewing and preparing supplier payment batches (complete, accurate, authorised)
- Uploading payment batches on banking system
- Necessary delegation and follow-up of all queries relating to payment batches
- Manage Accounts Payable team to meet their month end deadline
- Maintaining and administrating accounts payable documentation
- DailyDaily/Weekly/Monthly reporting to management on accounts payable status/outstanding payments
- Financial:_
- Internal and external accounts payable reconciliations
- Month end checks and balances
- Age analysis reconciliations
- Assist Accountants with all accounts payable related queries
- Assist Auditors with year-end audit
- Team Management:_
- Application and utilization of team: Ensure that team is judiciously applied in appropriate roles and that the workload is cleared with the minimum mistakes and overtime
- A proactive approach to recruitment and maintaining a happy accounts payable environment
- Team Training, Development and Facilitation: Ensure that formal and on-the-job training is effectively planned and conducted to ensure that sufficient expertise is available to deal with the work
- Ensure that the mentorship in the department is effective to enable all team members to develop to their full potential
- Evaluation of Team: Ensure that you have sufficient knowledge of the team and their duties to do effective evaluation and also ensure that ongoing discussions take place
- Ensure that steps are taken to develop team members for performance improvement
