The purpose of the role is to direct the IFRS function of the Mazars Quality and Risk Management department within South Africa and the region.

To assist the National IFRS team in their responsibilities, which include providing IFRS advice, Annual Financial Statement reviews, consultations, opinions and training.

You will be based in the Cape Town office, while also providing support to the Gauteng and other South African offices.

Some travel will be required, principally within South Africa and occasionally outside. A financial services background and experience is beneficial.

This role will offer the opportunity to join Mazars at a very senior level with a focus on quality control and technical excellence.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide IFRS consultation and support
- Develop IFRS training material and facilitate training
- Develop tools and guides
- Research new developments and updates within the IFRS technical field and feedback nationally and to Group for consideration
- Review Financial Statements for IFRS compliance, identifying IFRS problem areas, recommending solutions as well as clearing and sign-off of permitted role reviews performed
- Drafting of technical articles to be published internally and/or externally
- Facilitation of training events, both internally and externally
- Coaching junior team members in areas of IFRS skill
- Managing the team, ensuring the right jobs are done at the right levels
- Ensuring KPIs consistent throughout team and performance feedback provided
- Reporting performance at various required levels - to head of IFRS and partners
- Feedback provided to audit committees

**Minimum Requirements**:

- CA (SA) qualification
- Previous exposure and minimum 5 years IFRS experience post articles
- Financial services experience is beneficial
- Good understanding of IFRS for SMEs
- Good understanding of the Companies Act disclosure requirements
- Good level of knowledge of JSE Listing Requirements; Corporate Governance requirements (King IV) and integrated reporting requirements.
- Confident and decisive, including strong communication skills
- Pro-active
- Adheres to principles and values
- Ability to work in teams, including coaching junior team members, as well as working in isolation
- Able to gather information, research problems and share knowledge
- Good presentation and facilitation skills including ability to answer questions
- Applies professional / specialist / technical expertise
- Good writing and reporting skills
- Review of junior team members’ work and providing feedback on work performance
- Able to cope with pressures and setbacks
