Finance Controller

**Position**:Finance Controller

**Description**

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic Finance Team, to support the Financial Director and be an integral part of an ever-growing finance team in ensuring the carrying out responsibilities and duties outlined below.

**Key Functions of The Post**

**Internal**
- Ensure and coordinate accurate and timely reporting for all of the business and affiliate’s internal and external requirements, including but not limited to month-end reporting forecasts and compliance.
- Examine, reconcile, and analyse accounting records, financial statements (income statement, balance sheets, cash flows), or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards for all affiliates.
- Analyse, assess and provide commentary on all monthly forecast, month-end reporting, revenue, cost of sales, expenses and journal entries, and any other accounting reporting for the business and its affiliates as per corporate’s reporting requirements.
- Responsible for all intercompany payments and journals.
- Responsible for all cash and A&R monthly forecast submissions for the business and its affiliates.
- Responsible for compiling all monthly distribution / JV accounts and statements.
- Account and reconcile industry body revenue in conjunction with the business’ affiliates.
- Coordinate annual financial calendar and requirements for the business and its affiliates.
- Ensure all internal and corporate controls are adhered to along with monitoring of all expenditure.
- Deal modelling and P&L analysis to ensure sound financial decisions are made and key indicators are met.
- Assist and coordinate the preparation of the annual budget cycle for the business and its affiliates.
- Head and coordinate all of the business (and affiliates) half-yearly royalty runs - ensure statements are distributed and payments made are in conjunction with the team and system.
- To be able to perform and cover any task and / or requirement of a fellow finance team member.

**Corporate**
- Complete tax templates and any other requests from the corporate tax team.
- Coordinate and head up the transition and implementation of the finance reporting system (FIT - Oracle to SAP)
- Complete and coordinate all SOX requirements from the corporate compliance team.
- Responsible for all consolidation and joint venture accounting between, affiliates and Corporate.

**External**
- Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, always ensuring compliance with payments, reporting, submissions and or any other statutory tax requirements from SARS (in conjunction with corporate and external tax advisors).
- Coordination and completion of the year-end audit with external auditors.
- Ensure all Company Registrar (CIPC) submissions and requirements are met.
- Coordinate and ensure all industry body stat submissions are met and adhered to

**Adhoc**
- Contribute to, assist, and play an active part in the finance team(s).
- Keep up to date with latest developments in financial management and reporting (new systems).
- In addition to job descriptions listed above other duties as assigned will be required.
- Develops accounting and financial systems. processes and documents to support the input and handling of financial data and reports.

**Other additional skills/requirements**
- Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data.
- Must be highly skilled in use of Excel Spreadsheets.
- Ability to work well with others under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities and see projects through to completion.
- Experience in JV and consolidating accounting practices would be an advantage.
- Employ problem-solving skills and analysis, and report problems to the Financial Director, as necessary.
- Ensuring compliance with ethical standards and good corporate governance principles.
- Proactive and willingness to add value out of scope of work.
- Team player and willing to help and assist colleagues in ensuring all requirements, tasks and deadlines are met.
- Trustworthy in dealing with highly confidential information.
- Willingness to work out of normal working hours and sometimes over weekends.
- Strong service orientation.
- A valid EB drivers’ licence

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Relevant post graduate accounting degree
- 5 years financial controlling experience
- GAAP / IFRS experience and knowledge advantages
- SAP
- Pastel
- Extensive Excel
- SAGE advantageous
- Professional membership advantages
