**Head of Credit - Job Description**
**Main Purpose of the Role**:
The incumbent will be responsible for the following:
1. Building and Implementing the credit risk strategy across the group.
2. Assisting the senior management team and board of directors to ensure compliance to applicable
legislation in all countries of trade and to reduce the risk of failed collections by implementing
appropriate processes and procedures.
3. Maintaining awareness of regional and international risks that might impact the overall payment
and collections performance and taking appropriate action to prevent or reduce the impact
thereof to the business.
4. Interpreting collections information and trends and making recommendations to business based on the interpretation of such information.
5. Forming the bridge between Executive and lower management and
motivating and influencing internal collections teams to perform at required levels.
6. Building and refining credit scorecards across the group to manage overall risk levels
7. Improve overall collection performance whilst still optimising business growth
8. Manage external stakeholder relationships where external finance houses are involved
9. Produce industry standard reporting on a monthly basis to internal and external stakeholders
10. Create a feedback loop to operations for daily monitoring of performance
**Key Deliverables of the Head of Credit**
1. Improve overall group collection performance
2. Reduce group annual bad debt and write off
3. Be the custodian of all policies and procedures relating to credit granting, scorecard creation and general business conduct to ensure compliance to the legislation and corporate governance.
4. Ensure the availability of timeous, accurate and correctly presented information to support
business decision making.
8. Assist with the design and development of the collections and reporting utilities of
debtors’ management system, aimed at extracting maximum value from same.
9. Periodically review the credit policy in each country to ensure that same remains relevant to the
risks and market conditions prevalent in each country.
Minimum Requirements
1. 5+ years of experience in a similar role with experience in analysing data, ideally financial data.
2. University Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Economics, Business Administration, specialising in Finance
3. Strong desire to build consumer facing credit products using data to inform decision making
4. An interest in converting behavioural and operational understanding into levers that can deliver and improve our products and services for a greater number of people.

**Requirements and pre-requisites**

**Salary**: R80,000.00 - R140,000.00 per month
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (preferred)
