This is a unique opportunity to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team at Amazon Data Services South Africa (Pty) Ltd as a Data Center Technician. Our team is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the IT infrastructure and hardware for data centers in AWS Cloud regions.
As a Data Center Technician, you will be the primary resolver and troubleshoot a range of data center infrastructure issues including hardware, fiber, networking, and related problems. You will work closely with engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to ensure the highest standards of safety and security while providing seamless and scalable infrastructure solutions to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety: Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and encourage a world-class safety culture. Own safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
- Data Center Operations (DCO): Diagnose hardware and network problems followed by physical repairs. Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures. Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).

Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
- CDCP (Certified Data Center Professional) or CDCS (Certification Data Center Specialist)
