Job Summary:

The Voice Network Engineer will be responsible for the deployment and support of BT Enterprise Trading Command and Control voice solutions, including Session Border Controllers and Voice Recorders in the SIP Voice sector. This role requires technical expertise in systems and applications software, database management, network services, and data and systems security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and resolve escalated technical issues within the work area.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to provide BT Trader Voice (SIP VOICE) services advice and/or professional services.
  • Support projects, carrying out elements of research, analysis, and/or delivery.
  • Ensure KPIs and SLAs are achieved.
  • Lead on the delivery of specific components of a project.
  • Draft reports and discuss recommendations based on research with the manager.
  • Share expertise with peers.
  • Provide on-the-job training to other team members.
  • Support the development and implementation of unit policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with internal, external, and third-party suppliers.
  • Contribute to cost/timescales solutions/options and manage expectations with customers or business unit/LoB teams.
  • Participate in and contribute to BT-wide professional community activities.

Business Impact:

  • Contribute up-to-date detailed technology know-how to projects.
  • Work independently or with minimal supervision to restore critical BT business functionality.
  • Provide accurate completion and delivery of supervised work.

Authority/Decision Making:

  • Complete own role independently or with minimal supervision/guidance.
  • Use discretion in identifying and resolving complex problems and assignments.
  • Determine when problems should be escalated to a higher level.
  • Delegate tasks to team members that report to the role.
  • Have some budget responsibility.

Qualifications:

  • Typically hold an engineering/science degree or have served a technical apprenticeship and obtained NVQ and further education technical qualifications.
  • May have obtained some appropriate recognised current accreditation to an external professional body and/or industry standard.
  • Relevant professional experience.

  • Demonstrate competence in own area and may still be acquiring higher-level skills.
  • Work with moderate guidance in own area of knowledge.
  • Deepen knowledge/skills in one area or broaden ability over a variety of skills.
  • Apply knowledge/skills to a variety of standard day-to-day activities.

  • Understand key business drivers and use this knowledge to focus own work.

  • Identify problems and all relevant issues in straightforward situations and generate possible solutions and assess each using standard procedures.

  • Prove and listen carefully.
  • Present information clearly and in an appropriate style to make technical information clear.
  • Persuade others in straightforward situations.
  • Contribute actively in team activities, sharing experience and ideas.
  • Build productive relationships internally and externally.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of professional communities relevant to the LOB and use the PC development framework to maximise the potential of themselves, their team, and the wider BT team.

Desirable Skills:

  • BT Trading and Command systems experience.
  • CUCM Voice certification.
  • Cisco Voice networks certification or experience at a competent level.
  • Audiocodes or Acme Oracle Session Border controller certification and experience.
  • Voice Recorder experience (SIPRec) (Nice or Verint).
  • Azure Cloud certification.
  • VMWare management.
  • Server management.
  • SQL.
