Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our regional operations and drive growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in senior management, commercial and operational experience, and a proven track record of improving business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve regional goals and revenue targets by overseeing daily operations and managing regional budget and costs.
- Ensure compliance to customs and SARS requirements, as well as collaboration between operations and commercial teams in the region.
- Engage regularly with key customers for the region, drive commercially focused business vision, and develop performance objectives for the regional team.
- Liaise with external stakeholders to ensure an effective and efficient supply chain, prepare and present financial statements, and develop a culture of operational excellence.
- Ensure customer service requirements are met and exceeded, maintain a safe operating environment, and design regional strategy for growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent.
- 5+ years of senior management or leadership experience, with commercial and operational experience in warehousing, supply chain, logistics, and refined metal exports in Africa.
- Commercially astute senior manager with experience in commodity exports/imports, refined metals, FMCG, and supply chain in Africa.
Competencies
- Strategic management competencies to shape and refocus the business for growth.
- Communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Negotiation skills to resolve substantive/IR matters with trade unions/shop stewards.
