About the Role

Santam is seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Consultant to join our team. As an Underwriting Consultant, you will be responsible for servicing broker requests, providing telephonic and email support to intermediaries, and dealing with general insurance and policy-specific enquiries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service broker requests, including enquiries
  • Provide telephonic and email support to intermediaries
  • Deal with general insurance and policy-specific enquiries
  • Deal with issuance of new policies, policy maintenance, renewal, and any other policy-related concerns
  • Assist in resolving all insurance queries within required timeframe and compliance requirements
  • Undertake client follow-ups when policies are cancelled to ascertain the reasons and attempt to retain the policy onto books
  • Manage client expectation on expected turnaround times for submitted requests
  • Adhere to underwriting criteria and Business unit requirements
  • Assist with profiling the client with the best suitable product and underwriting criteria
  • Advise brokers to ensure that we meet with clients' needs in terms of the correct cover and product
  • Assist in implementing solutions for improvement
Requirements
  • Matric/Grade 12
  • 60 commercial lines FAIS credits
  • A relevant insurance-related qualification (NQF lev 4) would be advantageous
  • Proven work experience in commercial, property (advantageous) policy administration and underwriting within the short-term insurance industry
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in short-term insurance commercial lines and/or Property
