We are seeking a skilled Underwriting Consultant to join our team at Santam. As an Underwriting Consultant, you will play a crucial role in servicing broker requests, providing telephonic and email support to intermediaries, and dealing with general insurance and policy specific enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service broker requests, including enquiries and provide telephonic and email support to intermediaries
  • Deal with general insurance and policy specific enquiries
  • Issue new policies, maintain policy renewals and resolve policy related concerns
  • Assist in resolving insurance queries within required timeframes and compliance requirements
  • Undertake client follow-ups to ascertain reasons for policy cancellation and attempt to retain policies
  • Manage client expectations on turnaround times for submitted requests
  • Adhere to underwriting criteria and business unit requirements
  • Profile clients with suitable products and underwriting criteria
  • Advise brokers on correct cover and product to meet client needs
  • Assist in implementing solutions for improvement and stand in for consultants during busy periods or absence of key resources

Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12
  • 60 commercial lines FAIS credits
  • Relevant insurance-related qualification (NQF level 4) advantageous
  • Proven work experience in commercial and property policy administration and underwriting within the short-term insurance industry
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in short-term insurance commercial lines and/or property
