About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and control of production within specific production areas, ensuring adherence to quality standards and efficient use of resources. This includes conducting regular audits, implementing quality control measures, and managing the requisitioning, printing, and control of labels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Material Control: Responsible for ordering and receiving materials/components as per the daily/weekly production plan, controlling material usage variances, and returning unused materials to Raw Material Stores for credit.
  • Plan all end-of-run changeovers to optimize machinery and resource utilization.
  • Perform in-process quality checks at defined frequencies, ensuring products meet minimum quality standards, and report any deviations to take corrective action.
  • Ensure all personnel under direct control and others entering the factory area maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) conditions.
  • Record and investigate daily materials and labor variances, developing methods to reduce waste within areas under direct control.
  • Authorize the release of finished products for shipping, signing off shipping tickets.
  • Ensure the Barcode Verifier is calibrated according to relevant work instructions.
  • Maintain the master sample file up-to-date concerning new labels designed.
  • Ensure completed requisitions are timely sent to Raw Material Stores for data capture.

Requirements

  • Must have a Matric certificate.
  • Must have a Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant Trade Test.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing/production line experience in a similar role.
  • Relevant experience working in continuous improvement initiatives, such as LEAN, TPM, WCM.
  • Must have knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Quality management systems.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Package.
  • You are result-oriented with a high sense of urgency and proactivity.
  • Must have strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Must have good numerical skills with analytical and numerical reasoning ability.
  • Experience and liability to work and communicate with all levels within the organization.
