Job Overview

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development is seeking a qualified Family Advocate to join our team in the Western Cape.

Estimated Salary: R1 400 000 - R1 800 000 per annum.

About the Role

This position involves performing all functions and duties of the Family Advocate in accordance with relevant legislation. Key responsibilities include attending to Hague matters, endorsing settlement agreements, instituting enquiries to ascertain the best interest of children, and attending to circuit courts within the Western Cape.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Perform all functions and duties of the Family Advocate in accordance with relevant legislation;
  • Attend to Hague matters when delegated to do so;
  • Institute and conduct enquiries to ascertain the best interest of children by means of ADR procedure;
  • Attend to all relevant circuit courts within Western Cape.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must possess an LLB degree or recognised four-year legal qualification, have at least five years of post-qualification litigation experience, and be admitted as an Advocate. Additionally, strong communication skills, research, investigation, monitoring, evaluation, and report writing skills, as well as diversity, dispute, and conflict resolution skills, are essential.
