Job Summary:

The Human Resources Manager Lead plays a crucial role in driving strategic growth and development within the hospitality industry. This position oversees employee benefits, industrial relations, recruiting, interviewing, and hiring processes to ensure alignment with company policies and labor regulations.

A successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills, with a strong command of the English language both written and spoken. The ideal candidate should also have sound organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive hiring strategies tailored to the unique seasonal needs and fluctuations within the hospitality industry.

  • Conduct thorough interviews and assessments to select top talent for various positions within the hotel, considering the demands of the hospitality sector.

  • Oversee compensation and benefits plans, ensuring they are competitive and compliant with labor laws, while accommodating the round-the-clock nature of the hospitality industry.

  • Facilitate seamless onboarding processes, focusing on quick integration of new hires into the fast-paced hospitality environment.

  • Monitor and report on employee turnover rates, implementing improvements to reduce turnover and maintain a skilled and stable workforce.

  • Maintain accurate records and contracts, including work permits and visas for employees from diverse geographic locations.

  • Create and implement retention programs addressing the unique challenges and opportunities within the hospitality industry to keep employees engaged and motivated.

  • Coordinate logistics, including accommodation, catering, and transport for staff, ensuring smooth hotel operations.

  • Schedule and organize training programs tailored to the demands of the hospitality sector, such as customer service skills training in conjunction with the Training Manager.

  • Act as primary contact for employee inquiries and job-related issues, providing timely and effective solutions, including the administration of injury on duty documentation with WCA.

  • Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, which are paramount in the hospitality sector.

  • Establish and implement annual objectives for the Human Resources Department, ensuring adherence to all personnel-related policies and procedures.

  • Respond professionally and promptly to resolve guest and staff difficulties.

  • Facilitate open employee communications to address grievances and respond appropriately, including corrective measures when necessary.

  • Conduct wage/salary/benefit surveys of the local market and recommend enhancements to the hotel's compensation plan.

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including employee areas such as the cafeteria and locker room.

  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate hotel training programs with the Training Manager, providing specific skills training and management/supervisory development, including anti-harassment and anti-discrimination training.

  • Directly administer performance appraisals across all departments.

  • Maintain the hotel's human resources information system to provide accurate employee records, adhering to applicable local laws.

  • Monitor compliance with all applicable local laws.

  • Oversee and investigate employee relations and labor-related matters pertinent to local employment.

  • Familiarize yourself with relevant collective bargaining agreements and local labor unions.

  • Participate in budgeting related to staffing and productivity.

  • Provide guidelines, direction, and support in the administration of disciplinary procedures.

  • Monitor staff turnover and propose changes for improvement.

  • Collaborate with the HOD team to support and achieve the company's goals and objectives.

  • Complete annual reports, including ATR, WSP, Return of Earnings, Employment Equity, and BBBEE.

  • Manage the Human Resources and payroll budget.

  • Develop and communicate policies and procedures regarding staff well-being.

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
