Human Resources Officer

As a key member of the Wasteplan team, the Human Resources Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all personnel HR administration and files are up to date. This includes providing support and advice to management and staff members on HR-related requests. The successful candidate will also assist with the implementation of HR policies and procedures within the company.
ResponsibilitiesBelow are some of the key responsibilities of the Human Resources Officer:
- Payroll Administration
Prepare payroll documents for all staff members. Ensure accurate and complete documentation of attendance registers, working hours, overtime hours, night shifts, and other particulars. Manage the KWMF payroll and administration.
Leave and Sick NotesEnsure accurate and complete documentation of leave and sick notes.
New Employee DocumentationEnsure that all information of new employees is submitted to payroll administration, including take-on sheets and any other relevant documentation.
EPWP ReportsEnsure that all EPWP reports are submitted to the City of Tshwane.
Personnel AdministrationThe Human Resources Officer will be responsible for the following personnel administration tasks:
- Inductions and Training
E nsure that a record of all inductions on new personnel is carried out by the relevant departments, ensuring that they are effective in their appointed positions.
Incidents and InjuriesAssist and report on every injury on duty.
WCA ClaimsOversee the processing of all WCA claims and ensure that the cycle is completed and the company has submitted all documentation for claims to be finalised.
HR RecordsEnsure that the personnel filing system and all other HR records are maintained and updated as per the company standard.
Leave ManagementProcess and manage the leave applications and records of all personnel, ensuring that the information is sent to payroll at the appointed time each month.
Employee RelationsThe Human Resources Officer will be responsible for the following employee relations tasks:
- Code of Conduct and Company Policies
Advise and assist line management and staff on the procedures and guidelines of the code of conduct and company policies.
HR Queries and IssuesProvide advice and support to all staff, management, and supervisors on HR-related queries and issues.
Company ValuesEnsure that staff and line management are aware of the company values and that these values are incorporated into the day-to-day operations of the company.
Disciplinary HearingsSchedule disciplinary hearings and manage all documentation with regards to the filing and record-keeping of notifications and outcomes.
ComplianceThe Human Resources Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, and Skills Development Act. They will also ensure that management and staff have access to all company policies and that all procedures and practices within the company are in line with policy guidelines.
Recruitment and SelectionThe Human Resources Officer will assist with the recruitment and selection process, ensuring that it is in line with the company's policy on recruitment and selection. They will also assist with the arrangement of interviews, interviewing of candidates, and providing feedback to candidates.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, the Human Resources Officer will require:
- A Grade 12 and an HR-related diploma or degree.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience in the HR field.
- Knowledge of the relevant South African labour legislation.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- A valid code 8 driver's license.
- Excellent communication skills.
