Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and prepare applications for funding, ensuring financial and technical due diligence functions are performed.
  • Present applications to investment committees and negotiate legal agreements.
  • Manage end-to-end application and submission process, ensuring timely and accurate financial and developmental reporting to stakeholders.
  • Conduct and/or manage due diligence on applications, designing and negotiating financial and legal relationships between clients and the organization.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring deals are aligned with the Department's strategic objectives and contribute to meeting industry development goals.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies or action plans to drive the Department's strategic objectives.
  • Account management function up to first drawdown, preparing well-written and motivated reports for presentation to relevant approval panels.
  • Conduct peer reviews on due diligence disciplines and monitor deals post-implementation.
  • Provide guidance to Business Analysts and Dealmakers in handling enquiries, applications, and submissions, as well as post-investment activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification: relevant commercial honours degree.
  • 8-10 years related experience, with 8 years in deal assessment and closing transactions.
  • Declared competent or working towards three due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical, and Financial).
  • Knowledge in assessing all associated issues in a transaction (Legal, risks, etc.).
  • Experience in peer reviews, complex financial modeling, and interpretation of financial statements.
  • Knowledge of the process and assessment of the market environment and technology landscape.
  • Knowledge of financing instruments (grants and concessional funding structures).
  • Understand review and assessment of feasibility of models of proposed financial structures.
  • Experience in presenting applications for approval to investment committees and negotiation of legal agreements.
  • Competent in coaching and mentoring of team members.
