Job Description

We are seeking a Sales Engineer to maintain and develop relationships with key customers and trade organizations. The successful candidate will understand and solidify purchase agreements, customer alliances, and market trends.

Responsibilities

  1. Drive bookings levels to meet and/or exceed assigned bookings goal
  2. Maintain regular, planned communication with key customers in the area you support
  3. Develop and implement marketing plans aligned with regional sales objectives to support organizational goals
  4. Serve customers as a primary contact for all business dealings, ensuring all customer concerns are being addressed
  5. Educate customers on the quality, features, and uses of our products through the full use of the company's marketing materials
  6. Collaborate with application engineers, customer service, and manufacturing to ensure customers' needs are met
  7. Knowledge of the design and operational requirements of rotating pumps, mechanical seals, and related equipment
  8. Skilled at product demonstrations, presentations, and business writing
  9. Proficient in technology such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
  10. Maintain organized records, including regular reports, quotes, status, actuals, expenses, etc
  11. Demonstrate financial acumen to discuss business decisions, particularly return on investment in support of solution selling
  12. Able to work independently, efficiently, and communicate productively with others
  13. Some physical activity required, such as walking large customer sites, lifting at least 50 lbs, and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities

Requirements

  1. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent in relevant field at least 4 years relevant experience
  2. Knowledge of EPC contractors, OEM, and Mining industry in South Africa and larger SADC
  3. Sales experience with rotating equipment such as pumps and mechanical seals
  4. Experience in the oil & gas, power, paper, and chemical industries, including familiarity with API 610 Standard
  5. Knowledge of sales techniques, negotiations, and business finance
  6. Demonstrated skills in leading meetings, including setting agendas, preparing, facilitating discussions, and assigning follow-up activities
  7. Ability to lead root cause failure analysis and communicate results
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  9. Project management experience is a plus
