Job Description

The Logistics and Supply Chain Manager will play a crucial role in implementing an LLP solution with control tower capability, ensuring efficient tactical planning of road logistics around rail availability and capacity. This individual will be responsible for identifying savings opportunities, executing them, and ensuring the financial tracking of the baseline, savings, and gainshare realization of the solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Commercial
    • Identify and implement efficiency initiatives to reduce the cost baseline for the client.
    • Financially track the baseline, savings, and gainshare of the partnership.
    • Accountable for the profitability of the account, providing clear cause analysis for any variances.
    • Complete budgets and quarterly reforecasts.
    • Project monthly revenue and manage cost control in alignment with client operational requirements.
    • Review client invoicing and manage debtor collection.
    • Responsible for account administration, including building, updating, and communicating reports.
    • Drive gainshare commercials with all stakeholders.
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Fully understand the client's business and identify areas to add value to their end-to-end supply chain.
    • Develop strategies with the client to meet their specific needs.
    • Manage relationships with key decision-makers and ensure healthy relationships across all levels within the client's organization through regular meetings.
    • Serve as a driving force within the client's company, fostering trust and cooperation.
    • Champion the client's needs throughout the company.
  • People Management
    • Jointly responsible for staffing the business unit appropriately.
    • Collaborate to retain and grow key individuals within the team.
    • Manage individual performance effectively.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and business growth.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and employees, building a motivated and professional culture to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Performance Management
    • Ensure excellent business performance by implementing the balanced scorecard, focusing on profitability, cost management, people development, client relationships, supplier management, and internal business processes.
  • Reporting
    • Build, update, and communicate reports.
    • Ensure the quality of reports from subordinates.
    • Deliver consistently accurate and relevant reports on time, including operational and financial analysis, with a focus on key risks and opportunities.
    • Prepare and communicate detailed operational reports, highlighting performance by functional area and areas for continuous improvement.
    • Prepare presentations for Steerco-level meetings.
  • Quality Management
    • Ensure all systems and controls are documented and managed to meet operational requirements.
    • Oversee business processes to ensure accurate use of systems and effective management of fleets and operational processes in line with client standards.
    • Develop and foster relationships with the supporting technology team.
  • Administration
    • Ensure personnel administration is completed accurately and on time.
    • Review and evaluate processes to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk management.
    • Ensure operations meet environmental and occupational health and safety standards.
    • Support the identification and implementation of Supply Chain Optimization projects with targeted savings.
    • Provide weekly reports on savings realized from the projects.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within work teams and management.
    • Ensure baselines are signed off and savings recognition processes are facilitated.
  • Ad Hoc
    • Perform ad-hoc analysis, queries, and provide business support.
    • Manage and deliver projects, including data analysis, simulation modelling, transport modelling, and process change implementation.
