Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Room Service Attendant to join our team. As a key member of our food service department, you will be responsible for delivering patient trays, assisting with menu selections, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver patient trays as assigned, including regularly scheduled meals, snacks, floor supplies, and NOW trays.
  2. Assist patients with proper positioning of food tray, review menu selections with patient, and opening of items as necessary.
  3. Loading and pushing hot and cold food trucks to and from patient units.
  4. Transporting various related equipment to appropriate areas.
  5. Responsible for completing the menu rounds process for assigned patients to communicate menu system and record menu choices in a timely and efficient manner.
  6. Retrieving all patient trays and delivering to the main kitchen. Cleaning and restocking cart.
  7. Utilizing computerized menu planning system to generate current diet order lists. Verifying for accuracy with unit charge nurse and/or designee.
  8. Communicating patient special requests or issues to Nursing, Dietitians, other Food Service Staff, and Management.
  9. Performing various duties in preparation for patient meal service. Ensuring the tray cart is properly sanitized and stocked.
  10. Assisting coworkers with other duties as needed or assigned.
  11. Assembling, labeling, and portioning food for use on patient tray line.
  12. Preparing food items such as sandwiches, toast, hot and cold beverages, assorted desserts, snacks, salads, jello, and custard, following proper portions, recipes, and presentation.
  13. Review patient diets prior to taking orders.
  14. Making sure that orders taken are in adherence to patient diets.
  15. Always having an ample supply of menus and ensuring that each patient has a clean menu daily.
  16. Working on various tray line positions as assigned or directed.
  17. Maintaining and ensuring proper sanitation of all work areas including unit kitchens in accordance with appropriate policies.
  18. MAY check and record refrigerator and freezer temperatures for assigned units. Communicating any problems with temperatures to management.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks under time constraints and constant interruption.
  • Basic knowledge of unit weights and measures and basic mathematical functions.
  • Prior experience in a patient care capacity strongly preferred.
