This position assists Radiology Technologists and other department staff with patient flow and other supporting duties.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Duties include, but are not limited to, communicating with patients and preparing them for the exam, patient film and report coordination, and stocking supplies.
2. Follows all Quality Control policies and procedures for compliance with departmental, local, state, and federal regulations.
3. Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations, hospital policy, and to ensure safety of patients and staff.
4. Greets patients politely and efficiently.
5. Delivers patients to examination rooms.
6. Takes thorough and accurate patient medical histories as directed.
7. Clearly explains procedures to patients in English. Seeks out interpreter services if needed.
8. Sets up examination rooms, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functioning.
9. Makes patients as comfortable and relaxed as possible.
10. May monitor patients' conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physician.
11. May assist with the completion of documents and treatment records, and delivering documents to PACS.
12. Assists other medical team and administrative staff members, such as physicians and nurses, in conducting special procedures or completing administrative duties.
13. Performs all duties with strict adherence to and compliance with government regulations, hospital policies and procedures, and safety/ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) guidelines.

1. CPR certification

Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Strong organizational and communication skills
2. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, patient positioning, equipment protocols, radiation safety, radiation protection, and basic patient care
3. Ability to communicate clearly in English with patients to explain procedures while making them as comfortable as possible
4. Ability to follow and comply with directions, procedures, policies, and regulations
5. Ability to work effectively and collaborate with medical staff, personnel, students, and patients
6. Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English
Preferred:
1. Enrollment in a formal radiologic tech program
2. Minimum one (1) year of experience in a medical office
Unless certification, licensure, or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
