About the RoleWe are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Professor in Music to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic leadership in research, curriculum design, and implementation.
Key Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Music
- Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of Associate Professor
- Secure external research grants and establish research programs
- Supervise all levels of postgraduate students and host post-doctoral fellows
- Establish institutional, national, and international collaborations
- Provide academic leadership and contribute to mentorship of academic staff
- Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research
- Contribute to University service and participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty, and university levels
- A relevant Doctoral Degree
- At least 7 years of experience in higher education
- Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in the area of Music
- A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
- Postgraduate supervision experience, including successful Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor
- Qualification/courses in higher education teaching and learning
- Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research
- Some standing as a scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/plenary lectures)
- Evidence of academic leadership and mentorship of early career academics
- Evidence of successfully hosting post-doctoral research fellows
- Evidence of national and international collaboration
- Evidence of community engagement integrated with teaching, learning, or research
