Job Title: Associate Professor Fine Arts

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Professor in Fine Arts to join our academic team at the University of Fort Hare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide academic leadership in research and curriculum design, development, and implementation.
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Fine Arts.
  • Meet research publication requirements for the academic rank of Associate Professor.
  • Secure external research grants and establish research programs.
  • Supervise all levels of postgraduate students and host post-doctoral fellows.
  • Establish institutional, national, and international collaborations.
  • Provide academic leadership and contribute to mentorship of academic staff.
  • Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research.
  • Contribute to University service and participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty, and university levels.
Requirements:
  • A relevant Doctoral Degree.
  • At least 7 years of experience in higher education.
  • Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in the area of Fine Arts.
  • A track record of international and national accredited research publications commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor.
  • Postgraduate supervision experience, including successful Doctoral supervision commensurate with the academic rank of Associate Professor.

  • Qualification/courses in higher education teaching and learning.
  • Evidence of successful national and international fundraising for research.
  • Some standing as a scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g., NRF rating, international keynote addresses/plenary lectures, exhibitions, or curation).
  • Evidence of academic leadership and mentorship of early career academics.
  • Evidence of successfully hosting post-doctoral research fellows.
  • Evidence of national and international collaboration.
  • Evidence of community engagement integrated with teaching, learning, or research.
