Key Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in a project leadership position, with a focus on team management.
  • A minimum of 5 years in youth development initiatives.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership capacity within the education or non-profit sector.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Established history of effective collaboration with a diverse array of donors, including corporate entities, philanthropic organizations, independent trusts, and global institutions. A personal network of national or international donors is a plus.
  • Proven experience in personnel management, mentoring, and coaching team members.
  • High level of proficiency in computer and financial skills, particularly advanced Excel.
  • Exceptional presentation abilities.
  • Results-driven, with strong strategic thinking and planning capabilities.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively: Offer options and make decisions as a team.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with a professional approach to interactions.
  • Extensive experience in high-level communications, including internal written and verbal communication, as well as external stakeholder and media engagement.
  • Strong business acumen and marketing skills.
  • A genuine interest in leadership and mentoring of youth and staff.
Core Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
  • Ensure the effective execution of directives from the Director and Board.
  • Continuously assess the immediate and broader business landscape to identify potential micro and macro issues affecting the organization and inform the Director accordingly.
  • Oversee the provision of administrative support to the Board and Executive Committees.
  • Act as a professional advisor to the Director on all facets of the organization’s operations, delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Plan, direct, control, and monitor operational activities to ensure performance aligns with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Supervise program management and provide guidance on special projects.
  • Collaborate closely with staff to ensure seamless execution of operations, planning, documentation, and event coordination.
  • Keep the Director informed of any deviations, threats, or risks to the organization.
  • Provide daily updates on responsibilities to the Director.
  • Develop partnerships and manage relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee key strategic projects.
  • Support student management and retention efforts.
  • Ensure alignment of the organization’s strategic planning and development with the Budget/Expenditure Framework and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Regularly monitor and review strategic plans, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Ensure effective communication of the organization’s vision, mission, and strategies to staff members.
  • Manage staff performance against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Drive exceptional results and deliver on core business strategies aligned with the organization’s business plan and approved budgets.
  • Prepare and manage board reports.
Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Strategically grow stakeholder relationships in alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Build and maintain stakeholder relations through regular feedback and explore opportunities for involvement.
  • Coordinate stakeholder and donor-related activities, including donor liaison, in close collaboration with the Director.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure donor retention.
  • Draft and manage the submission of funding proposals as necessary.
  • Provide guidance on various donor reporting and governance requirements.
  • Support meetings with donors, including documentation, notes, and follow-ups.
  • Achieve new business targets.
  • Manage legal, financial, and reporting aspects of donor contract management.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of progress and project reports to donors.
New Ventures:
  • Collaborate with the Director on the ideation, budgeting, funding, support, and implementation of new projects.
  • Ensure smooth operational execution of new projects, programs, and activities.
  • Engage in new business development by presenting and securing strategic partnerships for the program.
Leadership Expectations:
  • Maintain a professional presence and conduct at all times, including appropriate dress code and a friendly demeanor.
  • Adhere to the standards, policies, and procedures of the organization.
  • Uphold the organization’s vision while leading program coordinators and staff in an agile, sustainable, and economically prudent manner.
  • Ensure strategic alignment among employees, students, and stakeholders.
  • Encourage and maintain open and efficient communication with all staff and relevant stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
