Human Resources Director

MSC Cruises is seeking a highly skilled and experienced HR Director to lead our onboard HR team and act as the onboard HR business partner.
Job SummaryThe HR Director will provide pragmatic and sound advice to the Master of the Vessel and the management team, championing company values and their effective application.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with senior leaders, ship and shore, to diagnose people requirements and develop effective solutions that support the ship as the business needs evolve, guided by company values.
- Assure that all HR services are delivered in accordance with the Company expectations.
- Work closely with the Crew Office to ensure correct and timely implementations of processes & procedures such as: Couple Policies, Internal Mobility, Change in Contract Period, Compassionate Leaves, Resignations, Engagement Proposal, etc.
- Work closely with the Master/Staff Captain/Chief Security/HoDs, acting as a neutral adviser creating a safe work environment and a consistent application of disciplinary actions.
- Lead investigations pertaining to them, as per Rule of Shipboard conduct, keeping the Staff Captain and shoreside representatives (MSC CM UK) appraised as appropriate.
- Support the Ship Safeguarding Officer (Staff Captain), for all Crew related activations.
- Ensure consistent approach for vulnerable crew and timely reporting to shoreside representatives (SPOC).
- Be responsible for the correct implementation of the performance management process and addresses any concerns as needed.
- Monitor shipboard operations to ensure they are in compliance with HR Policies and Procedures, Global HESS, MLC 2006, relevant Fleet Regulations and other applicable internal, external, and governmental regulations at all times; promptly report any deficiencies to the Master and the Shoreside HR Team as relevant.
- Ensure all Learning & Development activities are organized and delivered in line with Corporate HR guidelines and best practices.
- MA in HRM/HRD or Psychology or Business Administration and/or CIPD qualified.
- Extensive knowledge of maritime industry regulations, laws and MLC 2006.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, Power Point, Excel, SharePoint.
- Fluent in English (C1 level) and any other language is a great advantage.
- Valid South African Passport.
- Police Clearance.
