We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mine Waste Expert to join our Africa-based team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with extensive experience in mine waste engineering and management.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership and project oversight on various initiatives related to mine waste facilities, including tailings dams, heap leach pads, and associated infrastructure.

The role requires strong expertise in geotechnical investigations, stability analyses, water balances, deposition planning, and dam safety evaluations. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and develop strong client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Technical review of feasibility studies and designs of mine waste facilities
  • Leadership and oversight of projects related to mine waste facilities
  • Client relationship development and maintenance
  • Dam safety evaluations and risk assessments
  • Mine waste facility audits and inspections
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications in civil or geotechnical engineering (e.g., Bachelor of Engineering)
  • Postgraduate qualifications in geotechnical or water engineering (favorably considered)
  • Professionally registered civil or geotechnical engineer with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
  • Proven track record in project and technical delivery
Skills and Experience
  • Substantial experience in mine waste engineering in a consulting environment
  • Broad range of experience in planning, feasibility, design, and construction phase services
  • Extensive experience in leading project teams
  • Good experience in the technical review of design works, reports, and proposals
  • English speaking with excellent communication skills
