Responsibilities

The Geological Hazard Mitigation Expert will be responsible for:

  • Planning and designing mine layouts and stopping sequences to minimize rock burst incidence.
  • Designing support standards and ensuring long-term stability over stoping of haulages, crosscuts, and inclined shafts.
  • Developing and implementing rock mechanics courses for production officials to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Identifying and implementing best practices in Rock Engineering and Strata Control to improve return on investment, risk management, and environmental procedures.
Requirements
  • A Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering Certificate is essential.
  • At least 5 years of operational experience at Senior Rock Engineer/Strata Control level.
  • Exposure to both Open Cast and Underground Mining environments is necessary.
  • A Code B Driver License is required.
  • B Eng. Mining Engineering/BSc Geology or equivalent will be an added advantage.
