Financial Manager Job Description

The Recruitment Council is seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to lead our finance department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, working closely with our accounting team to drive financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and review reconciliations and monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Compile management reports and perform financial analysis to inform business decisions.
  • Manage cashflow, investments, and approve payments and collections to optimize financial performance.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to drive business growth.
  • Ensure monthly reconciliation of control accounts, balance sheets, and income statements to maintain financial integrity.
  • Handle VAT and Income Tax calculations and returns to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare statutory and regulatory returns to ensure compliance with FSCA, Prudential Authority, Reserve Bank, SARS, and NAMFISA.
  • Compile annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Provide financial insights to Regional Managers to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
  • Resolve discrepancies and long-outstanding items in balance sheet reconciliations to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Drive improvements in systems, processes, and internal controls to enhance financial performance.
  • Address ad hoc financial queries as needed to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
Requirements:
  • CA (SA) qualification with 2 years post-article experience.
  • Experience in the Financial Services or Short-Term Insurance industry is an advantage.
  • Strong technical skills with solid IFRS knowledge.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.
  • Experience with accounting packages like Great Plains, SAP, or Accpac is beneficial.
