Job Summary

This is a leadership role in the food and beverage service team of MSC Cruises. The Luxury Head Waiter Fine Dining will assist the Maitre D' Hotel and the Asst. Maitre D'Hotel in supervising all Food and Beverage service activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of waiters, assistant waiters, and buffet staff to ensure seamless service delivery in assigned areas.
  • Ensure that all stations are set up and ready for guest arrival on time, with attention to detail regarding table settings and timely service.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of quality service, ensuring guest satisfaction through effective management of assigned sections.
  • Effectively manage personnel replacements as needed, to maintain service levels and adhere to company policies.
  • Promote revenue growth by maximizing sales of food and beverages, while adhering to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Oversee proper usage of equipment to prevent damage, and ensure compliance with sanitation procedures (USPH).
  • Conduct inventory checks to maintain optimal stock levels and monitor restaurant supplies.
  • Foster an environment of excellence by educating staff on menu content, wine lists, and pairing options.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in additional European languages such as Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish, or French is considered advantageous.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Prior experience on cruise ships is essential.
  • A High School certificate or equivalent experience on board cruise ships is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of USPH standards, public health protocols, computer literacy, and effective management skills are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, passion for hospitality, and customer service drive are necessary attributes for success in this position.
  • Silver Service knowledge and extensive international wine expertise are highly valued.
  • Familiarity with international F&B standards is expected.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. A valid South African Passport and police clearance are required documents for this position.
