We are a signature fine-dining restaurant in Stellenbosch, seeking a highly experienced and committed individual to spearhead the overall kitchen operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background relating to Fine Dine Cuisine with exceptional culinary skills, passion for food, experience in a sophisticated and focused kitchen environment, quality driven, leadership abilities, and the capacity to perform under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee kitchen activities to ensure safety and compliance with rules.
  • Evaluate the quality of foods or supplies.
  • Coordinate timing of food production activities.
  • Direct the activities of food service staff.
  • Develop new recipes or food presentations.
  • Determine menu item prices.
  • Train food preparation or food service personnel.
  • Cook foods.
  • Manage human resources activities.
  • Procure materials, supplies, or equipment.
  • Supervise food service operations or parts of operations.
  • Estimate supplies, ingredients, or staff requirements for food preparation activities.
  • Inspect facilities, equipment, or supplies to ensure conformance to standards.
  • Record operational or production data.
  • Schedule equipment maintenance.
  • Plan menu options.
  • Foster excellent customer relationships to resolve complaints or ensure satisfaction.
  • Organize special events.
Requirements
  • A formal Culinary Education.
  • Experience in a motivated kitchen team with a love for sophisticated dining.
  • Experience in one of the listed positions.
  • The ability to work under high pressure and in a fast-paced kitchen environment – physically fit – and able to handle emotional stress.
  • Creativity, initiative, and proactivity are essential. We appreciate staff who come up with new ideas and can deal with unforeseeable situations, flexibility being key.
  • The Assistant Restaurant Manager needs to possess strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • It is crucial to have experience working in a 4/5* establishment.
  • A stable and solid track record with contactable references is required.
  • International culinary experience will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of local & international food trends.
  • An excellent record of kitchen management.
  • Reliable transportation.

A competitive remuneration package, including R12,000 - R15,000 per month (dependent on experience), will be offered to the successful candidate. Preference will be given to candidates residing in Cape Town or Stellenbosch. Only South African Citizens or applicants holding a valid South African Permanent Residence will be considered.
