The Sales and Trade Specialist - Mining and Commodities is a key role within the Palesa Mbali Group, responsible for executing the physical marketing, sales, and trading strategies locally and internationally. This position involves creating new relationships and leveraging existing ones to advance the company's vision of becoming a global African commodities partner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential customers and assess their interest and suitability through research efforts and initiate contact to close sales.
  • Curate relevant marketing content with technical support for effective lead generation.
  • Organize and manage leads within the sales pipeline, utilizing customer relationship management tools to track and nurture leads.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to develop and implement sales strategies.
  • Negotiate, conclude, and execute transactions, ensuring commercial agreements and pricing adhere to company, regulatory, and statutory guidelines.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify and develop new product solutions with end users.
  • Ensure all contracts are performed, both on volume and contractual qualities, in accordance with agreed periods and terms.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and client feedback to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Communicate market information to share knowledge internally and benefit other team members.
  • Monitor and analyze performance to provide insights for continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular reporting and analytics to the executive team.
  • Utilize position and relationships to market products and services within the company.
  • Drive innovation within the area of responsibility and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Matric qualification
  • In-depth knowledge of the mining sector, including product, price drivers, delivery strategy, value chain dynamics, with a proven track record of executing profitable transactions.
  • Ability to recognize when to act independently and when to seek guidance/confirmation in decision making.
  • Ability to operate within a complex, pressurized environment and maintain compliance with the company's ethics, values, and trade mandate.
  • Adaptability and solution-oriented problem solving.
  • Business opportunity identification and development.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in work.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Emotional intelligence and interpersonal etiquette.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle various tasks simultaneously.
  • Driver's license essential as frequent travel is part of the role.
