Junior Accountant Position at Placement Dynamics

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Accountant to join our team in Stellenbosch. As a Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for ensuring bank accounts are processed and interest is allocated, reviewing prepaid expense journal entries, and preparing agri loan statements for Xero.

The ideal candidate will have a Grade 12 qualification, SAICA/SAIPA article experience, and 2-3 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience. Advanced competency in MS Excel and proficiency in Xero accounting software are also essential. Own transport is a must.

  1. Ensure bank accounts are processed and interest is allocated
  2. Review, prepare, and post prepaid expense journal entries
  3. Agri loan statements to Xero
  4. Update loan schedules
  5. Review payroll expenses, allocate unallocated wages, split payroll expenses per division
  6. Review unallocated transactions, split and allocate VAT and PAYE payments per division
  7. Assist with weekly and monthly livestock reconciliations, quarterly inventory journals, and draft debtors/creditors transactions
  8. Follow up on outstanding amounts receivable, prepare, post, and allocate divisional recharges, and monthly intercompany loan reconciliation
  9. Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings and assist with other ad-hoc accounting tasks
  10. Prepare weekly production report, liaise with farm managers for weekly livestock information, obtain quarterly inventory on hand information, and work with farm managers to resolve stock/inventory queries
  11. Obtain monthly divisional expenditure information, review monthly divisional recharges, and resolve queries with operations manager
  12. Take minutes of meetings
