The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecommunications engineering, with a focus on network operations and maintenance. They will be required to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Operations: Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the national network, including the IP Core and Transmission network.
- Change Implementation: Implement scheduled changes to the network, including IP address assignments and core and transmission network configurations.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Maintain accurate records of processes and procedures used during normal operations, and develop knowledge and skills in networking and relevant systems.
- Commissioning and Monitoring: Commission new transmission nodes and fibre transmission links, and monitor and support the IP Core.
Requirements:
- Education: Matric and tertiary qualification.
- Certifications: Juniper / Cisco or other networking certifications.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years ISP / SP / WISP experience.
- Skills: Proficient in Mikrotik Routers & Switches, routing protocols (OSPF/BGP/ISIS), L2 switching, and Mac OS X.
- Personal Qualities: Ability to analyze and define problems, prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines, and remain flexible.
