Amazon is seeking a talented lawyer to support our growing South Africa Consumer Business as part of our Legal Department in South Africa. As Corporate Counsel, you will work closely with our business teams to create and launch innovative new features, programs, and services for Amazon.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide legal advice on a wide range of topics, including general e-commerce, consumer protection, competition, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  2. Interact daily with business clients, business lawyers, and tech teams.
  3. Manage outside counsel.
  4. Hire, train, and mentor others.
Requirements
  1. Fully qualified lawyer with outstanding academic qualifications.
  2. Significant post-qualification experience, with at least 6+ years' post-qualification legal experience with a South African or international law firm or in-house.
  3. Strong commercial background and understanding.
  4. Excellent English language skills, including the ability to draft and negotiate contracts.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. High degree of independence, initiative, and decisiveness, with a desire to be challenged and think outside the box.
  2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to act as a business partner to internal clients.
  3. Ability to prioritize and deliver projects in time in a fast-moving environment.

  7. Team player with great people skills and a good sense of humor, able to efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels.
  8. Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.
