Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Banking and Finance Lawyer to provide transaction execution services to our global banking businesses. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in banking law and a thorough understanding of the financial services industry, with relevant experience in negotiating standard form bilateral and syndicated loan documentation and related credit agreements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage negotiations for contractual documentation related to bilateral and syndicated loan facilities, handling various types of documents, such as committed and uncommitted loan agreements, security agreements, legal opinions, and corporate authorisations.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural checks and balances, promptly identifying and escalating any concerns to global banking relationship managers, Legal, and relevant internal stakeholders, including Compliance, Risk, Credit, and Portfolio Management.
  • Oversee and drive the entire negotiation and execution process of the documentation, from the initial draft to financial close, with involvement in post-closing management as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders involved in the transactions, promoting effective collaboration and communication throughout the process.
  • Stay up-to-date on local and international regulatory and legal developments that impact financing transactions in the supported businesses, sharing knowledge with colleagues.
Requirements
  • BCom Law or LLB degree from a reputable institution.
  • Qualified lawyer with 2-10 years of experience practicing Banking and Finance law, with a solid background in syndicated lending, bilateral lending, general lending transactions, and LMA style loan-agreements.
  • Strong background in negotiating loan documentation.
  • Experience working in a bank, financial institution, or reputable law firm.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
