Job Summary

Isilumko Staffing (JHB) is seeking an experienced Executive Manager to lead our laboratory services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and driving the strategy for efficient service delivery of the laboratory service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for laboratory services, aligning with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead a team of Area managers to deliver the strategy and operational strategic plans, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Operational Excellence: Design, improve, and implement laboratory systems and processes to deliver high-quality diagnostic services, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Financial Management: Participate in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets, ensuring effective financial management and resource allocation.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with the AARQA Executive and discipline expert committees, making recommendations for adoption to the CEO for enhancing laboratory services.
  • Quality Assurance: Direct the development and installation of operational controls and procedures to promote communication and adequate information flow, ensuring management control and direction of laboratory services.
  • Performance Evaluation: Appraise and evaluate the results of overall laboratory operations regularly, systematically reporting these results to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee the laboratory operations of the organization, managing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Lead a people and service-centric laboratory service where delivery is effective and client satisfaction is prioritized.
  • Process Improvement: Responsible for measurement and effectiveness of all laboratory processes internal and external, providing timely, accurate, and complete reports on operations.
Requirements and Competencies
  • Education: MBCHB with additional business qualification at Masters level, or Masters degree in Medical Technology or Biomedical Science, or MMED and/or FCPath.
  • Registration: Registration with the HPCSA in the relevant discipline.
  • Experience: Twelve years' experience in pathology and/or diagnostic environment and/or infectious diseases and/or public health, with five years' experience at senior management level in a healthcare environment.
  • Postgraduate Qualification: Postgraduate qualification in business management (advantageous).
  • Attributes: Problem-solving and decision-making, build organisational capability to deliver greater results, inspire a sense of vision, purpose and direction, knowledge of applicable legislative prescripts and regulations in the public and health sector environments, strategic planning and execution, financial and HR management, leadership and team management, experience in managing a large complex business.
