About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team at 2U. As a key member of our analytics team, you will be responsible for constructing data sources to support analytics, analysis, and data modeling. This includes generating data-driven insights to advance the company's objectives and inform operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Engineering
    • Cleanse and verify data integrity, enhancing data sources when required
    • Exhibit best coding practices, adeptness in pipeline builds, and proficiency in transformation tools
    • Analyse data to deliver data-driven insights using proven data mining techniques
    • Visualise data insights, communicate findings, and engage in data engineering tasks to optimise data pipelines and enhance analytical capabilities
  • Project Leadership
    • Effectively leverage knowledge, expertise, and experience to lead and deliver projects
    • Effectively support and mentor analysts
  • Business Collaboration
    • Collaborate with other analysts and stakeholders to execute projects
    • Leverage business knowledge to enhance business performance
    • Help guide business when making technical decisions

    • Perform research and constantly stay on top of the industry's trends

Requirements
  • Educational/professional experience with a heavy quantitative, analytical focus
  • Skilled in data analysis, data engineering, and business intelligence
  • Advanced understanding of SQL, efficiently and effectively applies best coding practices and demonstrates ability to upskill/assist others
  • Advanced understanding of Python/R, efficiently and effectively applies best coding principles and demonstrates ability to upskill/assist others
  • Advanced understanding of Apache Airflow, DBT, and APIs; demonstrates proficiency in building data pipelines and assisting in upskilling/assisting others
  • Skilled understanding of version control; efficiently creates pull requests, collaborates, debugs/tracks issues, documents, and hosts code
  • Independently develops complex data models
  • Experience with a reporting tool, such as Tableau
