Lead the Future of Luxury in the Bush


We are seeking a highly skilled General Manager to oversee the final build phase and ensure a seamless transition into operation of our brand-new property set to open in 2025.


This role involves overseeing the implementation of The Royal Portfolio's Standard Operating Procedures, maintaining meticulous standards, and joining us in bringing to life a new luxury experience.


Main Responsibilities

  2. Construction Management: Consult on and oversee the build alongside Project Managers, Architects, Designers, and Contractors to ensure optimal functionality.
  3. Leadership: Recruit a full team, onboard, train, and manage performance, as well as handle disciplinaries.
  4. Hotel Operations: Oversee purchasing to set up all departments, implement SOPs, oversee training, and ensure smooth running of all departments.
  5. Budgeting: Assist departments and management to remain on budget.
  6. Guest Relations: Ensure positive guest feedback and be visible and accessible to guests at all times.
  7. Asset Upkeep: Maintain the functionality and upkeep of buildings, equipment, furniture, grounds, etc.

Requirements

  2. Previous Experience: 5-star Lodge environment, living on-site, working extended cycles of 6 weeks on / 2 weeks off.
  3. Qualifications: Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management.
  4. Management Experience: Minimum 5-years' experience in a Management role within a 5-star lodge environment.
  5. Industry Knowledge: Strong Food & Beverage knowledge and aware of trends in the industry.
  6. Certifications: South African Wine Academy or WSET course completion.
  7. Teamwork: Experience working across all departments of a hotel/lodge operation.
  8. Maintenance: Fair knowledge of general maintenance.
  9. Technology: Opera and Micros proficiency, as well as Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
  10. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to handle pressure, with a sense of urgency, work well within a team environment, and lead by example.
  11. Communication: Excellent communication, both verbal and written, with very strong interpersonal skills.
  12. Organisation: Highly organised and approachable, with a caring nature.
  13. Assertiveness: Firm and assertive with a fair disposition.
  14. Passion: Dedicated and driven individual who is ambitious, passionate about sustainability, and the environment.
  15. Cultural Fit: Must be able to work as part of a team and be a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous, and a valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.
