Job Title: Tax Accountant

About the Role:

As a Tax Accountant at RMV Solution, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accurate calculation and submission of tax returns for our clients. This position requires a strong background in tax structuring and client management, as well as excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed and accurate computations to calculate tax liabilities and prepare tax returns.
  • Collate, sort, and process financial information for tax calculations and prepare tax schedules.
  • Submit accurate tax-related returns, documents, and reconciliations to clients by relevant deadlines.
  • Compile management statements, annual financial statements, and prepare other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
  • Deal with client queries regarding bookkeeping, annual financial statements, management statements, tax, income distributions, and other matters.
  • Manage the administration of income, provisional, employee, value-added, dividend tax, and estate planning.
  • Correspond with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) on behalf of clients on various matters, including objections, appeals, and alternative dispute resolution hearings.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing tax laws and regulations.
  • Train team members and support their work responsibilities to ensure tax compliance requirements are met.
  • Assist with the billing process via accounting practice software, including keeping timesheets.

Requirements:

  • A tertiary qualification with at least 5 years of practical tax and accounting experience in an accounting, audit, or financial firm.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with SARS e-filing, Draftworx, Sage Accounting, and/or XERO software.
  • Registered tax practitioner and/or completed 3-year SAIPA/SAICA articles (advantageous).
  • Strong technical knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS), International Financial Reporting Standards for small and medium-sized entities (IFRS for SMEs), Companies Act, Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act, VAT, PAYE, and other SARS regulations.
  • Experience working with a portfolio of clients, responsible for client correspondence and correspondence with third parties.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional numerical skills, analytical skills, and critical thinking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Afrikaans.
  • Proficiency with computers, particularly Draftworx, Sage One Accounting, Xero Accounting, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to follow processes and procedures.
  • Negotiation skills and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and reasoning.
