Main Responsibilities:
  • Construction Management: Collaborate with project managers, architects, designers, and contractors to ensure the property meets The Royal Portfolio's high standards.
  • Leadership: Recruit, onboard, train, and manage a team of professionals to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Hotel Operations: Oversee purchasing, implement standard operating procedures, and ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Budgeting: Assist departments and management in maintaining budgetary control.
  • Guest Relations: Foster positive guest feedback and maintain a visible presence to ensure exceptional guest experiences.
  • Asset Upkeep: Ensure the functionality and maintenance of buildings, equipment, furniture, and grounds.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a 5-star lodge environment, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
  • Diploma or degree in hotel management.
  • Strong food and beverage knowledge, with awareness of industry trends.
  • South African Wine Academy or WSET course completion.
  • Experience working across all departments of a hotel/lodge operation.
  • Fair knowledge of general maintenance.
  • Proficiency in Opera, Micros, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to handle pressure, with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and approachable, with a mature attitude to business.
  • Passionate about sustainability and the environment.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous, and a valid work permit is essential for non-South African candidates. A pre-employment polygraph test is a requirement for all staff members.
