Project Manager HVAC Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP Project Manager to lead our HVAC projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing project execution and development from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and Manage Project Execution: Direct and manage project execution and development from beginning to end.
  • Define Project Scope and Goals: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop Full-Scale Project Plans: Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Contractual Awareness: Contractual awareness and knowledge in JBCC, FIDIC, and NEC contracts.
  • Effective Communication: Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Resource Estimation: Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Budget Proposal: Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Staff Recruitment: Determine and assess the need for additional staff and/or consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during the project cycle.
  • Task Delegation: Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure Health and Safety compliance.
  • ISO Process Compliance: Ensure ISO process compliance.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Project Dependencies: Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Project Scheduling: Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Progress Tracking: Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Reporting: Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Status Reporting: Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Contingency Planning: Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Success Criteria: Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle.
  • Team Management: Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Business Relationships: Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the project's success.
  • Postmortem Analysis: Conduct project postmortems and create recommendations reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Best Practices: Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Financial Control: Control project financial performance and reporting.
  • Cost Management: Project cost, procurement, analysis, appraisal, and budgeting.
  • Progress Reporting: Project analysis and clear progress reporting to management as required.
  • Coordination: Coordinate activities and materials procurement and other related activities with concerned departments.
  • Final Commissioning: Ensure effective final commissioning and handover.
  • Sourcing: Source materials and equipment within specification and at the lowest cost.
  • Management: Management, coaching, and mentoring of other Project Managers, Site Engineers, Supervisors.
  • Drawing Requirements: Ensure effective programming of drawing requirements.
  • Engineering Assistance: Ensure availability and efficiency of engineering assistance.
  • Commissioning Requirements: Program commissioning requirements.
  • Project Status Reporting: Reporting to Senior Managers on project status.
  • Resource Availability: Ensure availability of adequate resources to achieve commitments in the short and long term.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to BUTEC KZN/Cape Town team.
Requirements
  • Mandatory Qualifications: Technical MEP & HVAC knowledge. Preferably a National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience: 3-5 years direct work experience in MEP or HVAC project management capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution. (Minimum R35 mil value)
  • Tech Skills: Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies.
  • Project Scheduling: Project scheduling skills.
  • Personnel Management: Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
  • Technical Competence: Technically competent in all aspects of MS Office.

  • Technology Adoption: Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Customer Service: Customer service skills an asset.
  • Task Prioritization: Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Senior Management Exposure: Senior management exposure (management of managers).
  • Strategic Management: Strategic management experience/knowledge.
