KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement a comprehensive industrial relations strategy aimed at enhancing Trade Union partnerships. Cultivate and maintain relationships with high-level officials. Assist the Head of HR, People Business Partners, and line managers in discussions with Trade Unions on various organizational matters. Create and refine IR policies, processes, and tools to facilitate necessary changes throughout the organization. Provide direction, establish policies, and offer expert guidance on collective bargaining and overarching industrial relations challenges. Negotiate frameworks for application across all bargaining units. Enhance IR competencies and knowledge within the People department, focusing on employment legislation and industrial agreements. Coordinate and unify all IR initiatives across the organization into a strategic plan. Support and promote the cultural and behavioral changes essential for all corporate IR initiatives. Establish strong connections with external networks and disseminate best practices in Industrial Relations. Offer a specialized IR advisory service to management, line managers, and employees. Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and employment laws. Advise on, facilitate, execute, and implement relevant IR practices, policies, and procedures related to disciplinary actions, grievances, consultations, conflict resolution, absence management, risk identification, and preventive measures. Ensure adherence to Labour Legislation, including the Skills Development Act, Labour Relations Act, Employment Equity Act, and Compensation for Occupational Health & Safety Act. Guarantee compliance with Labour Legislation concerning all service providers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant tertiary qualification in HR / IR (NQF level 6). Experience in presenting cases in Labour Court. 5 to 10 years of experience in Industrial Relations. In-depth knowledge and understanding of IR within the South African context. Proficiency in computer applications. Strong understanding of current Labour Law. Proven experience with CCMA and Labour Court proceedings. Familiarity with policies and procedures. Competence in written and verbal contracts. Awareness of ethical responsibilities, both expressed and implied.
