**Key Responsibilities:**

* Design and develop databases that meet business requirements
* Implement database security controls and policies
* Ensure compliance with data laws and regulations
* Plan for future growth and ensure databases can scale to meet increasing demands
* Develop and implement backup and recovery plans
* Perform complex data migrations between different data sources
* Administer the data lake platform
* Contribute to the design of the overall data architecture of our databases
* Provide support to users who may encounter issues with the database
* Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
* Implement data governance processes and policies
* Manage relationships with service providers providing data-related services
* Adhere to project management standards and techniques
* Raise and provide mitigations/remediations timeously
* Guide and support junior resources on data-related tasks

**Requirements:**

* National diploma in ICT
* Certification in MSSQL database administration
* 5+ years of experience in database design, development, and implementation
* 5+ years of experience in database programming in T-SQL
* 5+ years of experience in database maintenance and performance optimization
* 5+ years of experience in database security configurations and implementations
* 5+ years of experience in backup and recovery planning and implementations
* 5+ years of experience in capacity planning
* 5+ years of experience in user support
* 3+ years of experience in compliance and regulations
* 5+ years of experience in data migration
* 5+ years of experience in technical writing
* 2+ years of experience in data governance
* 2+ years of experience in requirements gathering
* 2+ years of experience in project management
* 2+ years of experience in risk management
* 2+ years of experience in technical leadership and mentoring
* Knowledge of data architecture design
* Experience in managing service providers is an advantage
* Knowledge of administering the data lake platform is an advantage
* Experience in administering cloud-based database management systems is an advantage
