Overview:
The Independent Institute of Education is the largest registered and accredited private higher education provider in South Africa. We are currently seeking an Admissions Specialist to join our team.
The Admissions Specialist is integral to upholding academic standards by maintaining the accuracy of student records, ensuring adherence to policies and regulations, and delivering vital services to students and recruitment departments.
Key Responsibilities:
New Student Admissions and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations and accreditation standards related to student admissions and records.
- Adhere to data privacy laws (e.g., POPIA) concerning the management and distribution of student information.
- Approve international, conditional, and other South African admissions as per the guidelines from the IIE Office Of the Registrar (IIE OOR), including tracking and auditing these admissions using relevant reports.
- Oversee the tracking and follow-up of all USAf & SAQA applications to ensure compliance with admissions criteria and registration deadlines.
- Manage the tracking and follow-up of international students' study visa submissions, ensuring accurate reporting to the OOR to comply with Department of Home Affairs (DHA) regulations.
- Coordinate the de-registration process with campuses for students who fail to submit required documentation by the deadline.
- Review policies and procedures in collaboration with the IIE Office of the Registrar.
- Develop and update admission procedure documents for The IIE Varsity College, IIE MSA & IIE-Vega.
- Approve all relevant admissions escalation queries and ensure adherence to agreed turnaround times between sites and the OOR.
- Monitor IIE qualifications on brand websites and communicate any discrepancies to the appropriate stakeholders for correction.
- Provide training for student recruitment teams on admissions processes.
- Regularly monitor campus compliance with admission policies and legislation.
- Coordinate and oversee annual audits of new student registrations at campuses.
- Assist campuses with escalation queries throughout the admissions cycle.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and accurately to diverse audiences.
- Ability to lead by example and operate effectively within matrix management structures.
- Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team, demonstrating initiative and strategic thinking.
- Track record of successfully managing projects to completion.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving technologies and knowledge areas.
- A National Senior Certificate (NQF Level 4) and/or a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification) with at least 5 years of experience in higher education admissions and administration.
- 5 years of experience in higher education admissions, administration, and compliance.
- Experience with international, conditional, and other South African student admissions.
