About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled data infrastructure specialist to join our team at LexisNexis South Africa Shared Services (Pty) Ltd Company. As a senior member of our data engineering team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing cutting-edge data solutions that drive business growth.

Estimated Salary: R1,200,000 - R1,800,000 per annum

In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain scalable data infrastructure that powers real-time data processing of billions of records in a streaming architecture. You will also be responsible for building and scaling data ingestion and machine learning inference pipelines, as well as general-purpose APIs to deliver data science outputs to multiple business units.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement high-performance data infrastructure that meets the needs of our business users.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and product designers to develop data-driven solutions for high-value customer problems.
  • Build and deploy scalable data pipelines using technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka.
  • Develop and maintain APIs to deliver data science outputs to multiple business units.
  • Work closely with our cloud engineering team to ensure seamless integration with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Requirements:
  • Masters in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in data engineering.
  • Strong background in Scala or Java programming languages.
  • Knowledge of data modeling principles and ability to work with complex data models.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including Postgres, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, and graph databases like Neptune or neo4j.
  • Familiarity with distributed computing systems such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of API development and machine learning deployment.
