Role Purpose

As a Maths Teacher at SPARK Schools, you will drive student achievement by maintaining high expectations for classroom culture, behaviour, and academic growth for all students. You will be a content specialist, receiving ongoing professional development tailored to your experience and individual needs.

You will be integral to our school's culture, committed to rigorous, engaging learning experiences for our scholars. We teach the PR1ME Maths curriculum, a world-class program based on effective teaching and learning practices from Singapore, the Republic of Korea, and Hong Kong.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and deliver lessons to students daily within your content area specialisation.
  2. Collaborate with grade level and content area partners to develop rigorous, engaging learning experiences and create individualised behaviour and learning plans for all students.
  3. Attend pre-service professional development before the school year begins and participate in weekly professional development every Monday afternoon.
  4. Administer weekly and termly assessments to track student progress and analyse the data for student growth.
  5. Focus on student achievement, driving all scholars to meet required proficiency ratings.
  6. Lead weekly SEL (Social Emotional Learning) circles and implement our Social Emotional Learning curriculum.
  7. Use our culture and implement behaviour management strategies.
  8. Communicate professionally and effectively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
  9. Participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of our team.
  10. Attend Saturday events and parent community meetings.
  11. Conduct yourself in a professional manner at all SPARK Schools events and to all stakeholders.
  12. Nurture a high-achieving work environment where all students feel genuinely valued and supported.
  13. Promote our vision and mission to staff, scholars, families, and the greater community.
  14. Implement strategies implemented by our Crisis Management team.
  15. Adhere to our child protection, anti-bullying, and health and safety policy.
  16. Submit student results data when required.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  1. A degree or PGCE with a Mathematics focus and competency. Recently qualified teachers are encouraged to apply.
  2. Certification through the South African Council of Educators (SACE).
  3. SAQA accreditation for non-South African equivalent qualifications.
  4. English language fluency.
  5. A clear criminal record.
