Position Overview: Valeo Thermal Commercial Vehicles South Africa is seeking a proactive and results-oriented Logistics Operations Supervisor to oversee our warehouse activities at our Johannesburg facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of warehouse operations, ensuring optimal space utilization and timely handling of goods.
  • Lead a team of warehouse personnel, fostering a culture of safety and efficiency.
  • Oversee the complete warehouse functions across multiple locations.
  • Coordinate logistics for incoming and outgoing shipments through established courier and freight forwarding networks.
  • Ensure accurate inventory management, including receiving, issuing to production, and conducting monthly cycle counts.
  • Collaborate with the purchasing team to ensure timely order placements and address shortages.

Operational Duties:

  • Develop and enforce warehouse policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
  • Plan and manage the logistics of goods receipt, storage, and dispatch, optimizing layout and workflow.
  • Supervise warehouse staff, providing guidance and training to maximize performance.
  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular audits to maintain accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
  • Implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels based on demand forecasts.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and conduct regular safety training and inspections.
  • Work with suppliers and carriers to coordinate shipments and resolve logistics challenges.
  • Utilize computerized systems to manage inventory and analyze performance metrics.
  • Enhance picking, packing, and shipping processes through technology and lean principles.
  • Collaborate with other departments to align inventory planning and order processing with business goals.
  • Address inquiries and resolve issues related to warehouse operations and deliveries.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for warehouse staff and track key performance indicators.
  • Maintain facility standards and oversee housekeeping activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare for emergencies by developing contingency plans for potential disruptions.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in warehouse management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in warehouse management or logistics operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and logistics processes.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and workplace health standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Project management experience in warehouse improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
