Job Title: Financial Controller: Plant

Abantu Staffing Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team in a Plant Financial Controller role. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership and guidance to the plant management team, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is available to inform business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability, including general financial management, financial analysis, and budgeting.
  • Internal Control: Ensure compliance with internal controls and maintain a risk register to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Budgets/Forecasts: Participate in the budget and forecast process, preparing budgets and forecasts for plants, and preparing plant P/L and balance sheet forecasts.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare financial reports and returns, including monthly BU/plant financial packs, flash results, weekly sales reports, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Capex, Tooling, and Fixed Assets: Prepare and maintain a Capex and tooling register, tracking actual spend against approved spend, planning future profitability and cash flows of projects.
  • Audits and Year-End Processes: Prepare and plan the year-end statutory audit, including external and internal audits, and prepare and arrange royalty audits.
  • Costing: Calculate landed cost on all import shipments, prepare and review DA 190, investigate purchase price variances, and generate variance reports.
  • Stock Control: Compile daily stock holding reports, oversee stock takes, and assist with investigating stock count variances.
  • Cash Management: Oversee the cash management function, monitor daily cash positions and cash flows, and manage cash flow and working capital for the plant.
  • Debtors Management: Review debtors' age analysis, providing an analysis and action plans for debt collections.
  • Creditors: Review creditors' age analysis and GRNI, providing an analysis and action plans.
  • Forex: Review Forex forecasts and plant FEC contracts based on AP requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify improvement opportunities and make recommendations for improvements, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting: Prepare financial reports and returns, and generate information and reports for internal and external use.

Requirements:

  • B.Com or National Diploma (Financial Accounting)
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Qualification
  • Relevant experience in a similar role

      • Prepare financial reports and returns (monthly BU/plant financial pack)
    • Flash results
      • Compile the BU/plant flash results and analyse variances
    • Weekly sales report
      • Compile and review weekly sales reports
    • General ledger
      • Prepare provisions and accruals
      • Compile royalties schedule for month-end processing
      • Prepare general ledger journals
      • Compile general ledger reconciliations
    • Capex, tooling and fixed assets
      • Prepare and maintain a Capex and tooling register tracking actual spend against approved spend, planning future profitability and cash flows of the projects
      • Prepare Capex requisitions with all relevant information regarding the Capex project
      • Support useful life and residual value of fixed assets analysis
      • Maintain the BU/plant tooling reports
    • Audits and year-end processes
      • Prepare and plan the year-end statutory audit (external and internal) in line with the consolidated audit plan
      • Prepare and arrange royalty audits
    • Costing
      • Calculate landed cost on all import shipments
      • Prepare/ review DA 190 (declaration of imported components and raw materials)
      • Investigate purchase price variances (PPV)
      • Generate variance report of actuals to budgeted information
    • Stock control
      • Compile daily stock holding report
      • Oversee stock takes
      • Assist with investigating stock count variances
      • Overall responsibility for stock
    • Cash management
      • Oversee the cash management function of the plant
      • Monitor daily cash positions and cash flows to ensure settlement and maximise performance
      • Manage cash flow and working capital for the plant
    • Debtors management
      • Review debtors' age analysis, providing an analysis and action plans for debt collections
    • Creditors
      • Review creditors' age analysis and GRNI providing an analysis and action plans
    • Forex
      • Review Forex forecasts
      • Plant FEC contracts based on AP requirements
    • Continuous improvement
      • Identify improvement opportunities and make recommendations for improvements
      • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
    • Reporting
      • Prepare financial reports and returns
      • Generate information and reports for internal and external use
