Finance Controller Job Description

AGC Mining Recruitment Pty Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Finance Controller to join one of their mining projects based in the Northern Cape. This pivotal role requires a dynamic leader to effectively plan, direct, and coordinate all financial activities within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure effective financial management and control.
  • Ensure good control over capital expenditure and financial modelling for projects.
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate finance control systems, policies, and procedures, with a focus on governance and compliance.
  • Drive overall cost control and department budgets to ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery.
  • Ensure proper accounting of all capital expenditure, timely capitalization, and depreciation of assets.
  • Prepare project proposals using financial modelling tools and develop sound recommendations for management decisions.
  • Prepare forecasts, actual expenditure, cash flow, and variance analysis.
  • Participate in contract negotiations and contract finalization, maintaining control over vendor payments, capital work-in-progress, and fixed assets accounts.
  • Ensure smooth conduct of internal and external audits.
Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (or equivalent), e.g., B Com.
  • Highly advantageous: Qualified CA.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 3 years' experience at management level in a mining/construction/project environment.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation.
