About the Role

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing BASF Coatings Services' strategic plan for South Africa, ensuring effective delivery of our objectives.

This position involves driving sales activities, coordinating, and leading the Business Unit's operations while being accountable for performance. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing legal and compliance obligations.
  2. Negotiating product allocation and determining distribution across country clusters.
  3. Defining targets for the Business Unit in South Africa.
  4. Ensuring profitability and market value for the Business Unit in South Africa.
  5. Coordinating and assessing the local customer portfolio and prioritization strategies.
  6. Designing sales channels to optimize market reach.
  7. Driving implementation of the business strategy across South Africa.
  8. Setting and managing the Business Unit budget within the region.
  9. Representing the Business Unit effectively.
  10. Providing operational leadership to directly assigned employees.
  11. Implementing customer and market strategies to meet agreed targets.
  12. Identifying market opportunities and utilizing them effectively.
  13. Coordinating planning and target agreement processes.
  14. Ensuring thorough documentation and analysis of market information.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience, including 4 years in a leadership position.
  • Over 10 years of commercial negotiation and team management experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Previous experience as a Managing Director is advantageous.
  • Multi-cultural experience in the Sub-Region is beneficial.
  • Proven leadership experience aligns with BASF's CORE values: Creative, Open, Responsible, and Entrepreneurial.
