The manager is responsible for managing operational aspects of a Global Education Center (GEC). This role ultimately helps students become disciples of Jesus Christ who are leaders in their homes, the Church and their communities. The individual will need to be a seasoned professional with a blend of operational, higher education, job placement, and student mentoring abilities. They will also need to have strong credibility and relationships in the area. Additionally, they should have experience in administrative responsibilities including but not limited to budgeting, facility management, job placement, HR, training, and helping others to grow in their job performance and career development.

The manager position will not be filled until a legal entity is established. This date may vary depending on government regulations and legal set-up. This is a pioneering development in the Church Educational System and the manager will need to have an entrepreneurial and pioneering spirit to navigate unexpected changes. The position would assist in the creation of policies and processes. The incumbent must be comfortable working in an unestablished and changing environment. The director is expected to work on-site Monday through Friday, typically between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. local time. Additional work on evenings or weekends may be needed during enrollment times and to maintain coverage of the center.
- **Administrative responsibilities**
- Oversee design and construction of GEC with focus on educational activities that include technical training, remote jobs, and mentoring.
- Manage the work of other employees (may include mixed workforce). Partner with HR and vice president to provide suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, training and managing of employees both directly under your supervision and with contractors.
- Ensure safe, functional, and well-maintained buildings and grounds.
- Assist in the preparing and overseeing the center’s annual operating budget, financial performance, safeguarding of church assets, and safety of students and staff.
- Pay bills and maintain financial accounting for the center.
- Assist area legal counsel to ensure legal compliance to area and local educational requirements and laws. As well as maintaining local labor laws and regulations.
- Work with students who can assist in performing these administrative duties.
- **Coordinate with various departments and key stakeholders**
- Engage Area Presidencies and other area leadership in the identification of key priorities to support Area Plans and build employment opportunities for BYU-Pathway students.
- Find ways that strengthen the impact of BYU-Pathway and allow BYU-Pathway to support other efforts across the Church. These efforts include working with the BYU-Pathway Area Manager, other CES Partners, Self-Reliance Services, Communications and local priesthood leaders, including stake, mission, and temple leaders.
- **Technical and Vocational Education and Training**
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop policies and guidelines that govern the design, delivery, and quality assurance of technical and vocational education and training.
- In conjunction with the faculty from Ensign College, help oversee the work of technical and vocational instructors.
- **Coordinate student activities and student leadership councils**
- Working with Church and civic partners, coordinate student activities within the GEC. Activities may include social, spiritual, and temporal.
- Select, train, and work with student leadership councils when planning and coordinating activities and events at the GEC. Utilize student leadership council in continuous improvement of GEC.
- **Teach the importance of education and a Church Living Wage**
- Working with Area Communications, PSD, and other key partners, teach the importance of education.
- **Increase the total number of enrolled students**
- Work with BYU-Pathway field team, key partners, Area Communications, and PSD to increase the total numbered of enrolled students at the GEC.
- **Manage Personnel**
- Provide direction and counsel to direct reports.
- Ensures that the office is running efficiently and serves the needs of the organization.

**Education**:This position requires a seasoned professional. This will require a Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field and significant business and/or CES experience.

**Experience**:8 years of experience and skills related to business administration, preferably in CES or educational sector. Significant Church leadership experience is also a plus. They will also possess a professional demeanor to represent the university in a manner that builds positive relations and image with professionals throughout the area. Preferable to have a working knowledge of South Africa higher education programs, SETA requirements, regulatory education authorities and present Bursary offerings.
